Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter Training

The Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter Training prepares individuals to become successful medical interpreters. This language-neutral course, taught in English, is open to all languages. Participants will have the opportunity to practice speaking in their target (non-English) language through various role play activities. Prior experience in the medical and/or interpreting fields is helpful but not required!

 

Participants will learn:

Interpreting Skills
Codes of Ethics
The Four Roles of the Medical Interpreter
Modes of Interpreting, including sight translation
Interpreting for Mental Health Cases
Video Remote Interpreting (VRI)
The U.S. Health Care System
Communication Skills and Critical Thinking
Professional Development
Medical Vocabulary (anatomy, physiology, and more)
