Welcome to Bridging the Gap

Bridging the Gap was originally developed as a training program for medical interpreters in the 1990s. Since then, the training has prepared thousands of committed interpreters.

Today, medical interpreting has become a recognized profession. Health care providers appreciate that they can do a better and safer job of caring for patients when there is good language support and culture brokering available.

BTG Program is an important important tool for health professionals

The Delaware Division of Public Health offers the Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter program each year through the Cross Cultural Health Care Program. Our aim is to establish an effective interpreter corps that can be deployed during an emergency or disaster event. In these circumstances, it is crucial that Public Health be able to communicate effectively with Delawareans and the quality of our services may depend as much on the interpreter as the service we provide.
